What it is
Sends through the email provider configured for this workspace. The channel itself holds no credentials.
Set up
About 2 minutes to a working channel.
- 01Configure the workspace mailer first. Settings → Email: pick a provider (SMTP or Resend) and a verified sender address. Reports go out from your domain, not ours.
- 02Name the channel. Name it, and pick which of your verified domains it sends as — leave that on the default and it uses the workspace From. Create one channel per sending address; the recipient lives on the route, not here.
- 03Test, then attach it to a report. Test sends through the workspace provider, so a failure here is an email-settings problem. Then open a report → Destinations to pick who receives it.
Fields
| Field | Required | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| Send from | No | Which of your verified domains this channel sends as. Transport still comes from the workspace provider — this only sets the From. |
What goes in Target
The recipient address, e.g. team@acme.com. Required — an email route with an empty Target never leaves.
Target is required for this channel: a route without one never leaves. — recipient@example.com
Test
Every channel has a Test button in the channel list (Settings → Channels). The result is kept — date, status and the provider's error when there was one — and a channel that was never tested is marked in the list.
The e-mail channel has no test of its own: it sends through the workspace provider. Test the transport in Settings → E-mail → Test, which sends a real e-mail to the address you give.
Check it end to end
- 01Report: open a report, add this channel under Destinations (with the Target when the channel needs one), click Run now and open the run. The log says which channel each recipient went through and what the provider answered.
- 02Alert: under Monitoring → Alert routes, create a route with this channel as an escalation step. Routes match on severity and source; the first match wins.
- 03To fire an alert without breaking anything: create an HTTP monitor pointing at a URL that returns an error (for example https://httpstat.us/500) with a short interval. When it goes down the alert leaves through the route; delete the monitor afterwards. The message carries an acknowledge link — click it and the escalation stops.
- 04Report rules (new rows, value out of range) arrive through the same route, with source "report rule".
What most often goes wrong
There is no fallback to the platform mailer. A workspace with no email provider configured fails the delivery instead of sending from our domain.
